This is part of their investigation into what happened in the accident and the circumstances surrounding it. It is recommended that you consult with an attorney of your own before giving a statement. The other driver’s insurance carrier could use your recorded statement as evidence in your case down the road, so it’s best if you have legal counsel of your own present.
