C. Edward Baker, a native Memphian, spent several years working in the logistics and transportation field prior to becoming a lawyer. He obtained his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, Tennessee. Subsequently, he obtained his Master of Business Administration (MBA) with a concentration in Management Information Systems from the University of Memphis. Following his MBA studies, Mr. Baker received his law degree from the University of Tennessee College of Law, where he graduated with high honors and served as the Student Materials Editor of the Tennessee Law Review. In his third year, he served as the Editor of Transactions for the Tennessee Journal of Business Law. Mr. Baker was also a member of the National Moot Court team and National Environmental Law Moot Court team. Subsequent to graduating from law school, Mr. Baker attended the University of Florida Levin College of Law, receiving his L.L.M. in July 2009. These academic accomplishments laid the groundwork for Mr. Baker’s legal career, particularly in the areas of research, writing briefs, and litigating complex cases.
Mr. Baker served as a judicial clerk for the Honorable Alan E. Highers of the Tennessee Court of Appeals. Prior to joining Nahon, Saharovich & Trotz, Mr. Baker was associated with a firm in Knoxville, Tennessee, where he represented clients in general liability matters, including personal injury, real estate liability, and workers’ compensation. He has appeared in court on numerous occasions advancing the legal rights of his clients. He is known to be knowledgeable and very well versed in numerous areas of the law.
Mr. Baker practices in the area of personal injury, specifically auto accidents and workers’ compensation. Mr. Baker has always been approachable and sensitive to the firm’s clients. He currently serves as Of Counsel to the firm. Additionally, Mr. Baker serves as a full-time faculty member in the Paralegal Studies program at Southwest Tennessee Community College and has taught courses in torts, real estate, probate, civil litigation, e-discovery, criminal law and procedure, health care law, the legal system, legal research, legal writing, and alternative dispute resolution.
Mr. Baker is an outstanding legal researcher and enjoys learning new developments in the law. In particular, he always analyzes appellate decisions in an effort to ensure that his clients are able to maximize their recoveries. Mr. Baker prides himself on being a compassionate advocate for the rights of individuals who have been injured. He also prides himself on understanding the different nuances in the law, and armed with the facts, he is prepared to strongly advocate for his clients. Mr. Baker’s broad academic as well as his diverse work experiences enable him to always see the big picture when addressing a new situation or a complex area of the law.
In his spare time, Mr. Baker enjoys cheering for his favorite sports teams, including the University of Tennessee Volunteers, University of Memphis Tigers, Memphis Grizzlies, Cleveland Browns, and Cleveland Indians. Additionally, Mr. Baker enjoys bicycling, practicing jiu-jitsu, playing golf, woodworking, and reading.
