One Dead, Four Injured After Recent Tennessee Car Accident

Tuesday, September 27th, 2011

According to the Knoxville News Sentinel, a 42-year-old man may face charges for his role in a recent fatal car accident. On September 17, 2011, the man was driving on U.S. Highway 25/70 in Tennessee when he approached a tractor from behind. To avoid crashing into the tractor, the man applied his brakes and swerved his vehicle into the other traffic lane, directly into the path of an oncoming Jeep. The Jeep crashed into the man’s vehicle, rolled down an embankment, and landed on its roof. The driver of the Jeep was killed, and four passengers in the Jeep, including three children, sustained injuries. The Tennessee Highway Patrol accident report alleged the 42-year-old man might have been under the influence of drugs. Police are awaiting the results of drug tests and indicate charges against the man are pending.

Fatal car accidents can bring about difficult times for surviving passengers and loved ones. In addition to the obvious pain of losing a loved one’s companionship, survivors must overcome other challenges. For example, surviving family members that were injured in the crash may incur medical bills themselves and could be forced to miss work. Surviving family members may have to find ways to replace the deceased’s lost income. Finally, family members may be responsible for medical bills incurred by the deceased between the crash and his death. Memphis auto accident attorneys at NST Law know how to prove a defendant driver caused a crash by reviewing the accident report, requesting to speak to police, or asking to speak with witnesses. By proving a defendant driver caused the accident, your NST lawyer can help you recover every dollar you are legally entitled to. NST lawyers can consult with economic experts to document medical bills and compute lost wages. NST lawyers can retain psychiatric experts to determine the extent of pain and suffering you experience as a result of losing a mother, father, husband, wife, or other loved one. If a defendant driver was convicted of driving under the influence (“DUI”), your NST lawyer can pursue punitive damages.
