According to WPSD Kentucky, a school bus carrying 26 elementary school students crashed in Carlisle County, Kentucky, on May 16, 2011, killing a six-year-old child and injuring 16 other children and 1 adult chaperone. The crash occurred on Highway 62. Carlisle County police and witnesses say the bus driver lost control of the bus, causing it to go off the right shoulder of the highway, come back across the highway, and finally roll down a hill into a ditch. According to police, the deceased six-year-old was thrown from the bus and then crushed underneath it. The other injured victims were transported to nearby hospitals.
